A man is behind bars following a vehicle pursuit and a crash with a sheriff's cruiser in Belmont County.

Sheriff Dave Lucas tells WTOV9.COM the incident Monday started in the Barton Road area. A deputy was responding to a domestic disturbance call when he passed a vehicle leaving the home. The deputy attempted to pull over the driver, 55-year old Delbert Wines but Sheriff Lucas says he refused to stop. Lucas says an on-duty sergeant got involved, positioning his cruiser in front of Wines’ car, who proceeded to hit the sheriff’s cruiser twice before he was stopped.

Wines was arrested and booked into the Belmont County Jail without bond.

Lucas says he's currently facing five charges, including felonious assault, failure to comply, resisting arrest, persistent disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle under the influence.
