A lawyer representing the victim in the Steubenville rape case says Serena Williams has spoken with the girl's family after the tennis star was quoted in a Rolling Stone article saying the girl "shouldn't have put herself in that position."
Williams made the call Wednesday after releasing a statement describing the comments "insensitive and hurtful."
Attorney Bob Fitzsimmons said Thursday that Williams spoke with the family for about 30 minutes in a private conversation. Fitzsimmons says the family appreciated Williams' call.
