A West Virginia fugitive is in custody after he escaped from Weirton Medical Center last week.
The Mountain State Fugitive Taskforce and Hanover police arrested 41-year-old Melvin Hayes over the weekend at the Florence Hotel in Paris, Pennsylvania. WTOV9.COM reports he was wanted on several charges, including escape.
U.S. Marshals say Hayes has a history of mental illness and this escape attempt was not his first run-in with the law. He was arrested last year on multiple burglary and drug charges.
Hayes will be arraigned before a judge in McDonald. He is currently in the Washington County jail.
