Capt. John Young tells our news partner WTOV9.COM police received a call Monday that an employee found a body at the former RG Steel site, which is now owned by Strauss Industries.
Young told NEWS9 that the man was in an electrical tower. Police say they believe the man was trying to steal copper and cut the wrong wire, causing him to fall from the scaffolding.
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
Young says the victim had stolen copper wire in the past. The man was arrested on Feb. 25, and a “no contact” order was in place to prevent the man from being on the mill’s property.
