Today is Halloween and while some communities have already held trick-or-treat most are holding it tonight.
Officials say trick or treaters should stay in their own neighborhoods and visit only those homes that are familiar to them. Also, don't accept treats from strangers, always walk in pairs, groups, or with parents. Use sidewalks, when available, and cross the streets at intersections. Any treats that obviously appear to have been tampered with should be set aside and immediately brought to the attention of authorities.
Law enforcement officials are requesting that motorists use extra caution while driving through residential area.
Some other safety tips, parents should accompany their children and sew or fasten a reflective material to the children's costumes and remind kids to always look both ways before crossing the street.
